Best Toronto FC Betting Predictions

The team comes off a successful 2019 season, making the MLS Cup Playoffs, only to fall short in the Finals against the Seattle Sounders. The team placed 4th in the Eastern Conference of the MLS and 9th overall through the regular season with a record of 13-11-10.

Top scorers for the Toronto FC were Alejandro Pozuelo, Jozy Altidore & Nick DeLeon, each recording double-digit seasons.

When it comes to placing bets on the team, money lines, handicaps and over/under wagers are among the most popular. With a solid team going into next season, expect Toronto FC to be favorites against most other teams, to begin with.

Odds will likely change drastically based on the team’s performances in its first few games.

History of Toronto FC

Toronto FC was the first Canadian-based professional football team to compete in the MLS back in 2007. The team has won the MLS Cup once in 2017 and is a seven-time winner of the Canadian Championship.

The 2019 MLS season ended with the team finishing 4th in the Eastern Conference in the regular season and runners up for the Cup.

Greg Vanney is the team’s coach. However, the operator of the team is Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.

Toronto FC has an estimated value of $395 million and the highest player payroll in the MLS.

Home matches are played at the BMO Field on the shoreline of Toronto with a capacity of 30,991.

Despite a slow start in the MLS from 2007-2010, the team has become a top contender in the past few years. Expect the team to continue their success into the next season with one of the best rosters in MLS at the moment.

Club Creation

The Toronto FC was formed as the MLS awarded Toronto a team in 2005. Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) paid US$10 million for the franchise at the time. The public was invited to vote on the name of the team for a limited period.

The poll ended with 40% in favor of Toronto FC, resulting in the current name of the team.

Best Results

The team’s best season by far was in 2017, taking down the domestic treble: the MLS Cup, Supporters’ Shield and Canadian Championship. During the 2017 regular season, the team was able to go 20-5-9 to secure the best record on the MLS.

Much of the team’s 2017 success has been attributed to the exceptional year of Sebastian Giovinco, their star striker.

The team has been able to win the Canadian Championship 7 times and were runners-up of the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League. Other notable runs in the MLS Cup were in 2016 and 2019, where the team came out runners up.

The team has qualified for the MLS playoffs 4 out of the last five years, breaking a seven-year drought from 2007-2014.
